Ice Cube

Ice Cube has enjoyed a prestigious three-decade career in which he demonstrated a genuine talent on the mic—while never forgetting to keep it real. Already renowned for his lyrics and delivery when he left pioneering hip-hop group N.W.A. in 1989, Ice Cube would go on to become one of the foremost rappers of the era, widely respected for his keen observational style and gruff vocal delivery.

Unlike some rappers who branch out into other areas, Ice Cube has never strayed that far from the vocal booth. Since 1990, he has released ten albums, many of them critically acclaimed, including Death Certificate, Raw Footage, and I Am the West. Ice Cube was also a member of the group Westside Connection from the ’90s to the ’00s, a trio that celebrated West Coast hip-hop in an era when the rivalry between East and West Coast hip-hop was in full effect.

Honored by BET in 2009 with its “I am a Hip Hop Icon” award, Ice Cube was later inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the other members of N.W.A in 2016.
