The Beatles

Photography by Jan Persson

These are the first pictures I ever took of rock and roll. I, who wanted to be a fancy jazz photographer, wasn’t supposed to have anything to do with shitty rock and roll… A lot of people have since asked me how the concert was, but I have no idea. I could hear nothing but screaming girls.

The Beatles launch their first world tour with a performance at the KB Hallen in Copenhagen, Denmark, 4th June 1964. This was also the first of eight concerts with Jimmy Nicol as a stand-in drummer while Ringo Starr was hospitalized with tonsillitis.
