Freddie King
Photography by Barrie Wentzell
“On tour with Leon Russell and the Grease Band. This was a strange place, a farming town in the far north—cold, unfriendly and with “bad vibes.” The drummer from the Grease Band complained to me that the rest of the band hated his drumming and they’d “sent him to Coventry”. There was a punch-up at a club we tried to get into after the gig. Leon Russell was weird. but Freddie King was a joy as a person and player. This picture is on a box cover of one his videos.”
Freddie King performs in Northern Holland, 1971.
