Iggy Pop
Photography by Mitchell Kearney
“It was a magical night for the NY music scene, given Iggy’s position as one of Punk Rock’s Godfathers for his method of living on the bleeding edge—even before fronting the Stooges…! So, try to imagine seeing members of every kind of rock band within a hundred miles of the former Academy of Music milling around the front entrance to see and be seen. The scene at the stage door on 13th Street was crackling hot with the high hopes of simply seeing the arrival of “Mister One and Only…!” The anticipation only grew like a fever once everyone was seated and waiting. The gig kicked off with a rousing rendition of “Lust For Life” and we were treated to the sublime shirtless beauty of Iggy’s power and fury…!”
