Louis Armstrong

Photography by Jan Persson

Louis Armstrong was a friendly man. He was constantly on tour and sometimes seemed very tired, especially during the ’60s. But when he went on stage he was always a great performer… He was a very kind man, and his door was always open.

Louis Armstrong performs at the Tivoli Koncertsal in Copenhagen, Denmark, 1965.
