Eric Clapton
Photography by Barrie Wentzell
“Cream was appearing on Top of the Pops, a British TV show, which went out live every Thursday evening. The artists were usually miming to a backing track and Cream was miming “Strange Brew.” I asked Eric, who was sporting an afro hairdo, if we could shoot a few pictures and the only place with any window light was this small stairwell. I got a roll of him with the Gibson guitar that “The Fool” had painted for him. Many years later Eric auctioned off this and many other guitars for his Crossroads charity.”
Eric Clapton at the BBC TV Studios in London, 1967.
