Jimi Hendrix
Photography by Barrie Wentzell
“On a rather dark and rainy afternoon I went over to see Jimi to take a few shots for the upcoming tour he was starting just after he had returned from a long U.S. tour. When I got there I found him alone in his manager’s office slumped in a chair behind a desk stacked with paperwork and confusion. Jimi seemed a bit down in spirits. As I took a few shots I asked him if he was OK. He looked up and said: “Sorry, but it’s all this business crap and the pressure of touring all the time and all I want to do is write and play my music.” He looked out of the window and I took this pensive portrait.”
