Icon Photographer PF Bentley

PF Bentley

PF Bentley is an award-winning photojournalist and documentary filmmaker based on the Hawaiian island of Molokai, with a distinguished career covering domestic and international politics for over 30 years. He grew up in Honolulu and started his photography career taking surf photos of his friends. He went on to cover rock concerts for Sunbums, a bi-weekly newspaper that covered the Hawaiian music scene in the ’70s.

Bentley is a former Time magazine photographer and special correspondent, and the winner of five first-place Picture of the Year awards for his political coverage. He is highly regarded throughout the print and broadcast community for earning unprecedented access to presidential candidates, heads of state and Capitol Hill.

Bentley was the lead instructor at the very successful Platypus Workshops for over ten years—training photojournalists in the world of videojournalism production—and also taught visual journalism at Brooks Institute of Photography. Currently, he conducts his own “One-to-One” photography workshops on the island of Molokai. Bentley is shown here with Ehu Girl, his trusty photo dog/assistant.
